Ok I think KATLINE DEVINES idea was fantastic she was so right about how the places located by the equator have hotter sesons becouse the earth is on a axsis so when it tilts no matter what the locations by the equator will still be hot. There fore when the northern hemispere is tilten toward our heat resource (the sun) that is when we have summer and when we are in the process of tilting away from the sun we are experiencing fall then comes winter and that is when we are completley facing awaty from the sun and last we experience spring becouse the earth is tilting back toward the sun. And after we have experienced all of the sesons that means we have made a full rotation around the sun equalling a year! thank U Katline you helped me figure out why we have seasons!

We have been talking about how to explain the changes in the moon, or its phases. There is another change we are all familiar with, but few people really understand the cause: the seasons. In this thread, post YOUR ideas about what might cause the seasons. Of course you could look something up, but copying and pasting something doesn't mean that is what you believe or that you understand it - this is a time to practice your creative thinking, communication, and debate skills. So, rather than spending time looking something up that you may or may not understand - post the first idea you think of to explain why we have different seasons. i think its caused by when the earth orbits around the sun like in one part of the earth its warm and while the other side its freezing then later that year when the eath is rotating a diffrent part of the earth is warm and the other side is cold or its fall or something like that

i think that think the same as some people because when the sun is closest to the earth it is hot like spring and summer and the colder ones are when the earth or sun is further away like fall and winter

I think that the seasons are caused by how far the earth is away from the sun. That is why we have seasons but the time that we have those seasons are caused by a different thing. That other thing is the tilt of the earth, because when we are experiencing winter the people on the southern side of the equater would be going through summer.

The four seasons happen because of the tilt of the Earth's axis. At different times of the year, the sun's rays hit different parts of the globe more directly. The angle of the Earth's axis tilts the Northern Hemisphere towards the sun during the summer.
Without the tilt of the earth's axis, we wouldn't have seasons. Instead, the areas around the equator would receive the most sun and the northern and southern hemispheres would be stuck in a gradual gradient of hot to cold. The seasons would not change, it would be about the same temperature year round and there would be no seasons.
Is it true that the earth is closer to the sun in winter? Because of its elliptical orbit, the earth is closer to the sun during the northern hemisphere's winter. However, distance from the sun does not affect the seasons. The tilt of the earth's axis causes the seasons to change.

I belive that Seasons are effected by how the earth spins on it's axis!

My idea for what causes seasons is that when the Earth is farther away from the Sun, then comes Fall/Winter and when it is getting closer to the Sun, then it is Spring/Summer. the eath does not move away from the sun. it rotates around the sun. if it were to move away, then we would all freeze, and die.

I think the seasons are caused by the rotation of the earth around the sun. When the earth is closer to the sun it is warmer, like during spring and summer. when the earth is farther away from the sun i think it causes the temperature on earth to be colder, like during fall and winter. I think that it depends if you are in the northern,or southern part of the earth to know what the seasons may be.

welll. Seasons occur because of the Earth's tilt! I learned that today in Science Class.

Seasons happen because of the earth tilt and how the sun shines on it.

i agree that the earth revolving around the sun causes the seasons but i don't know how because the sun's heat expands very far hey its beatty I really do agree with your idea plus i think that your idea could possibly be wrong because mr.kruse told us that if its farther it could get accually get warmer and if its closer it could get colder
