Does the equator have much affect on the seasons or do the seasons rely on the sun more?

I think that they do rely on the sun more due to in summer the heat index is higher, as it winter it decreases alot

yes it does, the earth spins funny so the equator gets the most sun, which means more temperature. when the it is winter there the average temperature is around 60 to 70 degrees F while up in IA it is like 20 to 30 degrees.

But....... the poles also get the sunlight so why is it so cold? I would say it's cold in the poles becuase they are the farthest points away from the equator on the earth. Yet..... somehow the ice is melting.......how is this so? I know that this has to do with the greenhouse effect. Does this mean that the ozone is the weakest in the poles, therefore letting out more of the sunlights heat?

because it is farther away from the sunlight, the green house gases keep heat in thats why it is melting.

yes, for example in places that are closer to the equator they have warmer summers because there is more direct sunlight.

I think the seasons depend on the sun. Why? I have no clue...

i don't think the equator has much affect on the change of seasons because places further away from the equator have more change than the places close to the equator. Places like iowa have a cold winter and hot summer and places that are close to the equator are warm pretty much all the time. Therefore i think the seasons depend on the sun.

I think the equator has an affect on the seasons in the places that are located under or beside it, because it is much warmer at the equator compared to the top and bottom of the globe. So the places that are close to the equator have warmer seasons. Places futher away have cooler seasons.

so does it ever get cold? can it be cold? what happens if the sun is not out does that mean the equater is not as hot.

Yes, because the Equator is really hot, and the countries and stuff around it probably don't have cold winters like the others away from it. The heat it more intense, and it stays that way all year round.

i dont think the equator has any effect on the seasons because the equator is always warm and the seasons always change. so how could it affect the seasons if it's supposedly always warm?
