when the guy dropped the egg in the salt water, he gently placed it in. but when he put the egg into the tap water, he pretty much just dropped it. doesn't that have anything to do with whether it floats or sinks? because if you just drop the object it, water goes over it quicker and causes it sink faster. right? True what Conchita said. Ther guy gently placed place the eggand it floated. But the egg i tap water sunk because he just dropped it in. It could have gotten a crack that filled up with water and sunk.

I agree with Conchita. Why did he like throw it down into the water instead of gently placing it down???

Yes, that it does. And Patricia, I'm going to pull a Mr. Kruse on you. Why do you think it floats on normal tap water when it's rotten? it floats because the mass is going down when it is rotten making it easier to float and to break

I got that video it helpdd explain density pretty good for me. I think its cool that you can add mass to water in order to get an object to float.

I think that when the guy droped the egg in the salt waterit first went down thn it floats.i think that it was because it had to get less dense first so it coul float .If u get what i mean.

That wasnt bad but it is true the volume would go up to but just not as much as the mass.

How can a rotten egg float in tap water? i don't really know but i know it does for sure I think when an egg rots it has all this air inside and that helps it float.

Well..... Going back to the whole dropping and placing debate, I strongly believe that it doesn't matter. If it is going to float, it will. Yes, the water will "replace" the missing water, but the object will still float. If it floats, it will go UP. If it sinks, it goes DOWN. So, if the object is supposed to float, it will go UP. End of story.
Well, what do you think would happen if it wasn't an egg. Maybe another random food? How about scrambled eggs? It can fall apart. Do you think it would float?
